Glen Rock Panthers' Girls Tennis Highlights for week ending 09/15/02 |
Pasternack dominates in net opener |
Gabby Pasternak started the 2002 girls' tennis campaign like the Glen Rock
senior has during her three previous opening days - she totally dominated the action. A senior, the three-time
Bergen County champion crushed Lindsey Kempner 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles competition as the Panthers blanked
a strong Pompton Lakes squad by a score of 5-0 to open the B-PSL campaign on Friday. It was her 86th victory in
91 career matches. Glen Rock has four starters back from last year's squad that won everything possible including the B-PSL - Carpenter Division, Bergen County, NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group I and NJSIAA Group I championships. Aileen Sobaru cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Reena Attyeh in the second singles slot while Marjon Rahimian reveresed Sobaru's scores in romping to a 6-1, 6-0 triumph against Ashley Bright in the meeting of No. 3 singles players. Glen Rock's top tandem of Kristen Robbins and Alyssa Rosenbluth returns intact. The first team Bergen Couunty all star doubles duo of a year ago looked sharp in routing Chelsea Dennison and Christy Hamilton by a score of 6-0, 6-1. The second doubles duo of Mijin Kim and Megan Tozzi went one better as they blanked Kristen Caufield and Kristen Doty by scores of 6-0, 6-0. |
