Glen Rock Panthers' Boys Soccer Highlights for week ending 09/15/02 |
Sharp lives up to his name |
Peter Sharp was the top gun on the attack as he powered Glen Rock to a 5-2
victory over Hawthorne to open the 2002 B-PSL boys soccer schedule Friday afternoon on the Bears' home turf. A
senior midfielder, he was sharp, finding the back of the Bears' cage on two occasions. Coming off an 8-10 record last season, there was a concern about the Panthers youthful and untested defensive corps. Against a Bears' squad that went 7-11 but returned a pair of experienced forwards in Justin DeFeo and Mike Marenco, the Panthers surrendered a pair of goals in the opening half before shutting out Hawthorne the remainder of the game. Sal Aliano, Dean Leong and Ryan McCamm netted solo goals with Nick Guarino, Leong and Drew Schaubhut credited with assists. Wednesday's matchup with the Warriors of Waldwick will go a long way in determining how solid head coach Paul Cusack's defensive has become. The Panthers play at Saddle River Day School on Thursday and travel to clash with Midland Park in the "Battle of the Panthers" on Tuesday. |
