Wildcats ousted from state net tourney

Becton was eliminated from the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group I girls tennis tournament on Thursday afternoon by the unbeaten combined team from Hasbrouck Heights and Wood-Ridge. The joint squad pulled out a 3-2 win for its 10th straight win while the Wildcats dropped to 6-5.
Jackie Sikora battled Sylvia Semper over three sets, winning at third singles by scores of 6-3, 0-6, 7-6, (7-3). The No. 1 tandem of Allison Bornamann and Lila Muhamed rallied to defeat Miko Aeatake and Simona Radho 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the first singles matchup.
It was the second of back-to-back losses to the Hasbrouck Heights/Wood-Ridge team as the Wildcats were blanked 5-0 in a BCSL - National Division matchup on Wednesday.
In a BCSL girls soccer match on Thursday, Hasbrouck Heights routed the Wildcats 6-0, scoring three goals in each half. Keeper Kristen Hall was bombarded with 38 shots on goal, stopping 32 while her teammates managed only three official shots in the Aviators' cage.
Becton won its first boys cross country meet of the campaign on Wednesday. Kamil Debrowski was fastest to the finish over the 3.1-mile course at West Hudson Park as he paced the Wildcats to a 23-34 win ovr Harrison with Matt Magnifico (19:17) and Mike Decio (20:13) finishing 4-5.
In the girls competition, Renee Knuorowki and Denee Vadell finished 1-2 with Knorowski posting the winning time of 22 minutes, 52 seconds as the Wildcats won by a score of 15-40 over the Blue Tide. Vadell's runneurp time was 24 minutes, 8 seconds with Kristin Knorowski (26:31) finishing fifth.
Becton was edged 3-2 in double overtime by Hasbrouck Heights in a BCSL - National boys soccer match on Wednesday. MikeDenicillo and Omar Elcohen talled the goals for the Wildcats.

Knuorowski paces Wildcats to win over Secaucus

Renee Knurowski ran away from the field, winning by more than a minute as she raced through the tape in 23 minutes, 42 seconds to pace Becton to a 24-31 victory Secaucus in a BCSL girls cross country meet contested at West Hudson Park on Wednesday.
Denee Vadell was runnerup, completing the 3.1-mile course in 24 minutes, 51 seconds while Kristen Knurowski finished fourth with a clocking of 26 minutes, 12 seconds.
In a BCSL girls volleyball match on Thursday, Becton defeated Harrison 2-0 in a contest that was much closer than the final score indicates. Brigette Rajkowski delivered a dozen service points while Marisa Fusco spiked nine kills to spur the Wildcats to wins by scores of 15-12 and 15-14.
Becton picked up its victory of the season after five losses on Tuesday when the Lady Wildcats blanked Secaucus 2-0 in a BCSL - National girls soccer match played in Secaucus. Gina Parks and Jackie Ondroff tallied first half goals and earned assists while keeper Christen Hall sparkled between the pipes, turning aside 10 shots on goal to register the shutout.
Becton was thumped 7-0 by Wallington in a BCSL -National boys soccer match as goalkeeper Richard Grenboweic was peppered with 23 shots while his teammates managed only seven official shots on the Panthers cage.

Moros' hat trick spurs Becton

Mike Maros turned in his second straight hat trick performance to spur Becton to a 4-0 shutout over Secaucus in a NCSL - National boys soccer match on Wednesday in Secaucus. Keeper Jeff Masci turned aside 14 shots on goal to post his second shutout of the season between the pipes as the Wildcats won for the second time in three tries.
Moros assisted on the goal by Steve Sardoni. Victor Cordero, Edgar Guerero and Yurly Stelmakh were credited with solo assists.
In BCSL - Olympic girls cross country competition, Becton cruised to a 15-45 victory over Hasbrouck Heights. Denee Vabell was fastest to the finish among the Wildcat harriers, posting a clocking of 24 minutes, 8 seconds as she completed the 3.1-mile course in West Hudson.
Becton improved to 3-1 overall in girls tennis after blanking Harrison 5-0 on Tuesday. Kelle Trabucco led by example as the Wildcats' top player coasted to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jordana Carmargo at first singles. In the No. 2 singles slot, Tina Thukalil dominated Desirea Malatta in winning 6-2, 6-0. Jackie Sikora came on strong to post a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 victory over Anna Jausef at third singles.
In the doubles action, the Wildcats top tandem of Anne Lee and Lila Muhammed rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Andrea Bica and Bab Majias in the No. 1 doubles confrontation. At second doubles, the duo of Allison Bornemann and Shannon Magill came romped to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Joana Malaco and Panja Pate.
Becton travels to Secaucus on Saturday to battle the Patriots in a Saturday afternoon gridiron contest.
