Return of World of Outlaws highlights New Egypt '02 sked |
"It's hard to believe it's been five years since we started this,"
track owner Rick Grosso said, reflecting on the speedway's progress in the past half-decade. "For 2002, we're
thrilled to be able to host the World of Outlaws once again, with sponsorship from CarQuest Auto Parts. And, as
always, we've got a lot of great promotions planned for the fans." Rick and Nancy Grosso will partner once more with Lebanon Valley Speedway promoter Howard Commander to bring the Pennzoil World of Outlaws series to New Egypt on Monday, July 29. The tour's hottest ticket in 2001, last year's complete sellout and critical success featured all the Sprint car world's top names on the tricky tri-oval, in action so torrid it had Garden State race fans talking for weeks afterward. All reserved seat tickets for this year's July 29 WoO date at New Egypt -- the Greatest Show on Dirt's only New Jersey stop -- will go on sale in April. In addition to the eagerly-anticipated return of the Outlaws, New Egypt Speedway's 2002 schedule features an Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series 100-lap event for the big-block Modifieds, sponsored by Haldeman Ford, on Thursday, June 20; a pair of appearances by the popular URC Sprint cars; Pepsi's Big Bang Modified 40 plus fabulous fireworks on June 29; Ladies' Night, with Powder Puff races for the women sponsored by Burnett Racing Engines, on August 3; and Vespia Tire & Auto Care's Crew's Cruise Night, featuring a series of special crew chief challenges, on October 5. New Egypt's celebrated fan-interactive theme nights will include Advantage Financial's Christmas in July blowout; Gem Marketing's rock-and-rollin' Be-Bop Night featuring vintage stocks; the baseball-themed Grand Slam Little League Night, underwritten by Mid-State Communications; and Hawaii 5-0, a Mod 50 and fan luau sponsored by Party City of Brick. New Egypt's 2002 campaign kicks off with an open daytime practice on Saturday, March 30, and racing for real on April 6, with Perlmart ShopRite's Spring Lidlifter, featuring big-block Mods, Sportsman, Super Stocks and Rookie Sportsman. The central Jersey speedway will be in action every Saturday night through October 5, with a one-week breather before the big finale Legends of the Fall New Jersey Classic on October 19, 2002. |
