Mt. Olive holds on for 67-51 win in Tri-County Youth Wrestling League |

Mount Olive visited Randolph on Friday and came away with a 67-51 victory in a
Tri-County Youth Wrestling League dual meet. The win was the second for Mount Olive in three outings. Dylan Offerding got the Rams off to a lead they would never surrender when he was awarded six team points for a forfeit win in the opening 50 pound weight class. Alex LeGrand (58) and Tom Picillo (62) also picked up forfeits before Justin Vetrini registered a decision over Ben Greenapple at 66 pounds. Mount Olive put 30 straight points in the team scoring column between 74 and 90 pounds. Stephen Ference (74) won by a fall over Jake Ronko and Bronson Offerding (78) was awarded a forfeit. Eric Dicolo packed up Dan Lindberg at 82 pounds, starting a run of three straight pins. Kyle Hopler (86) and Mike Picillo (90) also posted falls. At 102 pounds Shatner Franchi showed Tyrell Tenthove the gym lights and Bill Mauro added a major decision over Vincent DeCaro at 109 pounds. Dan Dicolo completed the Mount Olive scoring when he pinned Michael Suk at 116 pounds. |

Mount Olive opened its 2000-2001 Tri-County Youth Wrestling League schedule with
a 66-43 loss to Hoaptcong but rebounded to defeat Bloomingdale 67-42. Both matches were contested on the opponents'
mats. Pete Smith gained the distinction of recording not only the first victory but also the initial pin when he decked Hopatcong's Joey Gaccione in the 54-pound bout. Tom Picillo posted a decision over Joey Hayes at 62 pounds and Justin Vetrini followed at 66 pounds with a decision against Nick Pastore. In the 78 pound weight class, Bronson Offerding showed Doug Harrison the gym lights. Alan Niederlander registered a major decision over Richard Hoer at 86 pounds and Mike Picillo was awarded a forfeit victory at 90 pounds. Matt Hars turned Michael LaVaglio on his back and touched his shoulder blades to the mat in the 98 pound match and Bill Mauro flattened Brian Kelly in the 109 pound confrontation. Dan DiColo followed with a decision over Willie Spaziani at 116 pounds. Smith started Mount Olive on the road to victory against Bloomingdale when he registered his second straight pin, planting Keith Damiano at 54 pounds. Picillo pinned Jake DeBonte at 62 pounds and Vetrini made it back-to-back falls when he decked Matt Paventa at 66 pounds. Offerding was awarded a forfeit win in the 78 pound weight class and Eric DiColo decisioned Casey Cotton at 82 pounds. Mike Picillo posted a major decision over Billy Gregg in the 90 pound bout. Harrs was awarded a forfeit win at 98 pounds and Dan DiColo pinned Robert Bowman at 116 pounds. Peter Petrosino made it back-to-back pins for Mount Olive as he put Brendon Fanning on his back and James Lashway was awarded a forfeit victory at 130 pounds to ice the decision. |
