Mendham decisions New Providence in Tri-County Youth Wrestling League competition |

| Mendham's young grapplers pulled out a 50-42 victory over New Providence in a Tri-County
Youth Wrestling League match contested on Saturday in Union County. Lyle True opened the scoring when he put six points in the Mendham column via a forfeit win at 50 pounds and Steve Pallone made it 12-0 when he picked up a forfeit victory at 54 pounds. There was no match in the 58 pound division and Chris Purdue wrestled to a decision over Chris Pyrro at 62 pounds. David Johnston won by a decision over Willie Allen and Logan True received a forfeit win at 70 pounds to up the Mendham lead to 24-0. At 82 pounds, Dan Peterson registered a major decision over Mike Boccellari and K.C. Barnish added six more points to the Mendham total when he received a forfeit at 86 pounds as did John Tatum in the 90 pound bracket as the Mendham lead increased to 40-12. Austin Laverty came through with a major decision against Marc Neuwirth at 102 pounds and Nick Freda showed Chris Pennisi the gym lights at 116 pounds to complete the Mendham scoring totals. |
