Avalanche battles back to deadlock Devstars

With New Jersey's own Devils on course to defend their Stanley Cup victory of 2000, the action has also been exciting in the 10 & under Sussex County Inline Hockey League game on the grounds of the Sparta Athletic Club.
In a 10 & under game on Monday, the Avalanche and Devstars played to a 4-4 standoff. The Avalanche has had a tough time so far this year, suffering from a lack of experience but that was not evident last night. Down by scores of 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3 during the game, the Avalanche fought back behind strong goaltending from Anders Dahlberg and Chris Pszonek before Gary Sanguinetti scored the tying goal. Jake Nolan had netted two goals earlier in the game for coach Gene Goobic's squad.
The battle between the Sharks and the Vipers was a Classic on Monday evening and began on a low note for the Sharks who were without either of their goaltenders and had to draft 2 volunteer rookies to play goal for the game.
The Vipers took the early lead in the 1st half and went into the second period ahead 3-1 when the Sharks rallied with 3 goals in the final period fueled behind super defense and outstanding passing. Frank Patrick Belardo who made his first start in goal since his days in the 8 & under league stopped five of eight shots on goal and Steven Candio who had never played between the pipes, was perfect in the second period, turning aside all eight shots he faced. Candio even got an assist on the last goal on a pass that set up Victor Boonham's game winning goal..
Both teams played with intensity and purpose as the level of play this season is reaching new heights. Viper goalie Alec Bortfeld also turned in an outstanding effort as he came up with 20 saves.
Scoring for the Sharkswere Victor Boonham who netted a pair of goals along with Jason Frandi and Peter Pensec. Jeremy Jessel tallied two goals for the Vipers with A.J. Cianni adding the third goal.
