Andover's Siano aces 8th at Rolling Greens |

| Andover's Al Siano stole the local golfing spotlight when he aced the eighth
hole at Rolling Greens. Playing with Bob Eisenberg and Tony Galatioto, Siano used his Ping Zing Z 4-iron to hit
off the tee, driving the ball 187 yards to the green where it landed and rolled into the cup for a hole-in-one. Jeanette Dondero and Vera Lawn teamed to win the Better-Ball competition among the Rolling Greens Lady Duffers. Robbie Schultz won Flight A of the Rolling Greens Junior League tournament with Phil Spence picking up the first place trophy in Flight B and John Smith winning Flight C. Robert DeGennaro carded a 25 to win the Best Nine Holes competition at Skyview. Placing second with a 27 was Mike Rossi while Paul Finkelstein and Larry Schaefer tied for third with 28s. In the President's Cup at Crystal Springs, Rich Leary, Ted Brennan, Dave Cobb and Kevin Ganey advanced to the semifinal round. At Wallkill, the foursome of Cole and MaryLou Kenison and Steve and Vi Silversey garnered low gross honors in the Couples Scramble with a 63. Finishing second on a match of cards at 69 was the quartet of Ed and Suki Schattenberg along with Paul Domino and Charlotte Vnuk. Placing third was the team of Carol and Gary Bunje and Charlene and Dan Morse.

the local golfing spotlight when they etched their names into the 2001 sportsinthegardenstate.com Hole-In-One Honor
Roll. Vernon's Ryan Kastner won the Sussex County Junior Golf Match-Play Championships at Skyview Golf Club when he posted a 5 & 4 decision over Blairstown's Mike Doyle in the title match. Fitton had his moment of glory on his home course at Skyview when he aced the 156-yard third hole playing with Bill Brauer, Paul Finkelstein and Wayne Wren. Paquin used his 6-iron to register a hole-in-one on the fourth hole at Lake Mohawk playing in a foursome with Anbdre Ferrullio, Dave Maglin and Diane Mora. At Black Bear, Richard pulled out her 3-wood to ace the 111-yard 11th hole with Scott Boruchoy, Jaelyn Downey and David Horowitz witnessing the event. Transue was on the 11th hole at Wallkill with Charlis Goarcke, Steve Strassbergen and Arnold Wright when he lofted the ball 152 yards to the green with his 7-iron for his hole-in-one. Playing with Mark Rufolo and the Schachtels, Beth and John, Wigler used his 8-iron to register his ace on the 130-yard eighth hole at Crystal Springs.

Avondoglio, Campbell deal aces at Newton |

| Victor Avondoglio and Seamus Campbell drove to aces over the fairways and
greens of the Newton Country Club to steal the local golf spotlight. Campbell, who won the Breakfast Shotgun competition with his brother Mike, was playing with Bob Dannhardt when he used his 7-iron to hit off the 17th tee, driving the ball 147 yards to green where it rolled into the cup for a hole-in-one. Avondoglio was playing with Jerry Dwyer, Al Lisbone and Steve Roseman when his moment of glory came on the 4th hole. He used his 4-iron to drive the ball to the green where it ended up in the hole for an ace. The Campbells won the Breakfast Shotgun with a 58 while there was a tie for the runnerup prize at 59 between the duo of Tom Castello and Paul Nusbaum as well as the team of Rich Cross and Keith Mitchell. There was a deadlock for first place in the Husband & Wife Championship at 68 between the Siegels, Gail and Norm, and the Woods, Dave and Sue. In The Nine-Holers competition, Jerre and Nancy Budd claimed the title with a 31 while Bob and Sue Poust finished in second place with a 32. At Skyview, Mike Fitton and Chris Bond teamed up to win the Blind Partners with a 134 while one stroke back in second place was the team of Art Levy and Larry Schaeffer. Rich Leary, Joe Abraham and Bill Vereb finished 1-2-3 in the President's Cup Qualifying Match-Play at Crystal Springs. In the Guess Your Score competition at Rolling Greens, the prizes went to four Newton residents, Robbie Arena (43) , Jason Goldberg (55), Justin LaBrie (60) and Brian Meyer (50). |

Kelleman, Kerby, Takacs, Volk win Hi-Lo in Rolling Greens Junior League |

| Sparta's duo of Bryan Kelleman and Jeff Kerby teamed with Lafayette's Chris
Takacs and Stanhope's Andrew Volk to win the Hi-Lo Team title in the Rolling Greens Junior League last week. The
foursome posted a round of 75. On Sunday, John Watt aced the 152-yard 16th hole for the eighth hole-in-one recorded at Rolling Greens this season, etching his name in the sportsinthegardenstate.com Hole-In-One Honor Roll. Brian Dolan, Patrick McKernan and Glenn Scotland posted aces at Crystal Spring. Dolan's hole-in-one came on the 114-yard 14th hole while McKernan experienced his moment of glory on the 153-yard 10th hole and Scotland's ace was recorded on the 105-yard 14th hole. A pair of aces were posted at High Point in Montague. Vincent Holland was playing with his wife Ethal when he aced the 140-yard 14th hole and Dan Welsh finished with a flair when he aced the 115-yard 18th hole. Bill and Marie Scott teamed with Jim and Tricia Smith to post the winning card of 63 in the Couples Scramble at Wallkill. Finishing in second place with a 68 was the team of Donna and Doug Ferguson and Steve Vi Silversity who carded a 68. |

Triple aces dealt at Rock View |
|
| It was a feast or famine for holes-in-one at Rock View, a nine-hole course
in Montague. There were no aces dealt all season until Joeanne Anderson, Al Bologni and Richard Eldridge experience
golfing thrills of a lifetime within a space of six days last week. In fact, all three aces came on the eighth
hole. Anderson enjoyed her return trip to Kearny in Hudson County after hitting her drive 75 yards off the women's tee into the hole. Bologni of Sussex and Eldridge of Branchville had their moments of glory hitting 152 yards to the green off the men's tee. Ron Boniface and Judy Caputo also had their names etched in the sportsinthegardenstate.com Hole-In-One Honor Roll. Playing a late round of golf that ended at 8:00 PM at Skyview, Boniface recorded his ace on the 145-yard sixth hole playing in a foursome with Bob Beaulieu, John Bonczak and Bill Emslie. Caputo enjoyed her moment in the spotlight on the seventh hole at Wallkill. Playing with her spouse Ron and the Gibbs, Daphne and Jim, Caputo used her 9-iron to loft the ball 116 yards to the green where it rolled into the cup. In the quarterfinal round of the Men's Club Championship at Wallkill, Ed Schattenberg defeated Bob McSeveney, Mike Harris eliminated Bob Siegel, John Bales ousted Doug Friedland and Joe Silvernail sent Greg Peil to the sidelines. At Crystal Springs, Rich Leary won the Director's Cup with Kevin Ganey occupying the runnerup slot and Dave Cobb finishing in third place. Ken Sawyer teamed with Ed McWhorton to win the 4th Annual Slasher Invitational at Lake Mohawk. Finishing in second place was the team of Larry Kelly and Jim Queen while the duo of George Huhn and Brian Lenker finished in third place. |

| A Tom Castello, Ken Slack and Ted Van Laar experienced golfing thrills of
a lifetime as their names were added to the 2001 sportsinthegardenstate.com hole-in-one honor roll. Castello had his bid moment at the 13th hole at the Newton Country Club. Playing in a foursome with his wife Jeanie and the Nausbaums, Meredith and Paul, he hit off the tee with his 4-iron, driving the ball 164-yards to the green where it rolled into the cup for a hole-in-one. Slack was playing the Clubview Course at Farmstead when he dealt his ace, using a 5-iron to drive the ball 168-yards to the ninth green where it dropped into the hole with his playing partners Perry Bush, Rick Fincken and Larry Romyns watching. Van Laar's moment of glory came on the ninth hole of the Lakeview Course at Farmstead. He used his pitching wedge to loft the ball 134-yards to the green where it rolled into the cup for a hole-in-one. He played with Robert Drew. Jerry Cannon won the overall title in the Nassau competition at the Skyview Golf Club. Cannon finished with a 63 and also was tops on the back nine with a 24. Mike Fitton was runnerup with a 66, finishing second on the front nine with a 36 and third on the back nine with a 30. Jim Rafter was third overall with a 68 after leading on the front nine with a 35. Mike Rossi finished third on the front nine with a 36 and Ray Schwartz was runnerup on the back nine with a 28. The qualifiers for the Governor's Cup at Lake Mohawk are: Bob Anderson and John Natale; Herb Lindsley and Bob Roberto; Al Arena and Andrew Ferullo; Ed Brzezinski and Mike Savitt; Norm McCarty and Don Surdoval; Jim Garrison and Ken Lanno; Roger White and Bruce Wilson; Dave Johnson and Ed McWhorter; Bill Patterson and Art Schippers; Chuck Krueger and Peter Stoebling; Tony Randazzo and Ed Susco; Chuck Raverta and Chuck Roberts; Art Kolakowski and John Preston plus Bob Heller and Terry Novak. In the Women's Association Opening Scramble, first place went to the foursome of Carol Krueger, Gloria LaTorre, Suzanne Sullivan and Brenda Wilson. |

| At Lake Mohawk, the Stableford competition was won by the foursome of Ken
Kephart, Art Kolakowski, Ed McWhorter and Randy Nelson with a plus 4. In second place at minus 1 was the quartet
of John Preston, Chuck Roberts, Thom Sheridan, Jr. and Ted Twardus. There was a deadlock for third place at minus
3 between the team of Jim Durkin, Terry Eckert, Al Meliti and Pete Stoebling and the foursome of Dave Johnson,
Al Meliti, Bob Roberto and Bob Savare. In the match play vs. par competition at Skyview, Mike Fitton finished first with JIm Rafter occupying the runnerup slot and Pete Foley finishing in third place. The overall winner of the Porchside Skills Challenge was Pete Foley. |

LaBosco, McKee open links campaign dealing aces |
| Frank LaBosco and Frank McKee are two of the first golfers to be installed
into the sportsinthegardenstate.com hole-in-one honor roll for the 2001 golfing season. For LaBosco, his moment of glory came at the 18th hole of the High Point Country Club in Montague playing in a foursome Stan Keirston, Carl Pizzicaroli and Fred Ulm. Using his 6-iron, LaBosco lofted the ball 135 yards to the green where it dropped into the hole for an ace. McKee hit his memorable drive off the sixth tee at Newton with a 4-iron, driving the ball 174-yards to the putting surface where it landed in the hole. Dennis Connors and Jim Egan teamed up to win the Better-Ball competition at Cystal Spings on a match of cards at 65 with the twosome of Bill Alagna and Richard Leary. Ted Brennan and Jim Dill finished third one stroke back when they registered a score of 66. Pete Foley won the Skins competition at Skyview in Sparta with Steve Henkle occupying the runnerup slot and Wayne Wren finishing in third place. |
